I recently took a weekend trip to Oklahoma City, OK for my alma mater’s homecoming festivities.  I must say that in the 13 years I’ve been out of school this city has changed quite a bit…for the better. Known for having its Sooner fans and now also for its NBA team (Thunder Up!), Oklahoma City has more to offer than many may expect.  I would say it is definitely worth checking out for a place to visit.
Oklahoma City, located about 3 hours north of Dallas, TX, has something to offer whether it’s nightlife, great food, shopping, or adventure you’re looking for. Â I’m actually a little disappointed that I didn’t even find out until after I left that they have an outlet mall there….and from what I found online it looks really nice! Â Offering stores such as Coach, Forever 21, Banana Republic, and Michael Kors, kid stores such as Children’s Place, and stores the guys tend to like such as Nike and Jos. A. Bank there really is something for everyone at the Outlet Shoppes located in northwest Oklahoma City. Â I’m going to have to make sure I get to this place sooner than later 🙂
I’m also really impressed with the changes they have made to the downtown area with Bricktown being my favorite part.  With a variety of restaurants, bars, and clubs, Bricktown is a fun area with bustling nightlife….so glad the hubby and I were able to experience what this area has to offer!  I had a great time at the Purple Martini nightclub where we danced the night away to great music with a nice, mature crowd (at least there was the night we went).  In addition to the variety of restaurants, clubs, and bars there’s also the water taxi that runs continually like a bus through the Bricktown Canal (so disappointed that I did not get to ride…I will definitely have to make my way back to OKC just to experience this!).  When I visit Oklahoma City again I’d also like to check out some of their districts such as the Asian District, which has restaurants that offer authentic Asian cuisine and the Boathouse District that runs along the Oklahoma River offering something for those who enjoy outdoor recreational activities.
With all that Oklahoma City has to offer I am SOOO looking forward to my next trip there! Â I just can’t believe how much this city has changed since I was there as a student with so much more to see and do! Â I definitely recommend a trip to OKC for anyone who is looking for a little adventure in the Southwest. Â I guarantee you’ll find more than a few things to enjoy there. Â I know I can’t wait to get back!
